Can 5.6 be installed with SQL2012?

Will installing VCM 5.6 with a SQL2012 server work and is it supported?

I got halfway through my install before I realised I was installing it on SQL 2008 (non R2), and it refused to install, asking for 2008R2 SP1 or higher. While SQL 2012 is higher, i'm not sure if it works like that.
