SRM install at two sites - SSO headaches!

Hi,

Running a single vCenter 5.1 server at our datacentre with a nice set of Dell servers connected in to a Compellent iSCSI SAN. Works great. We now have a need to replicate certain essential servers to our second Dell/Compellent cluster at our head office, which is easy enough to do (we will be replicating in both directions between both sites). The problem comes with arranging server failover/failback, and to this end I want to use SRM to automate it and to allow for failover testing.

From what I can understand, in order to do SRM I need a vCenter at each site, an SRM server at each site and a Dell Enterprise Manager for the Compellent SAN at each site. Where does SSO fit in?  I have SSO running on my vCenter, but from what I can see if I add another SSO at another site and the primary goes down, the secondary will also not work. If I want multiple redundant SSOs I need to put them behind a load balancer, but how will this work at different sites? With SRM do I need to run the vCenters in linked mode or can I use vCenter server heartbeat to effectively cluster them across site?

Any help would be appreciated, as at the moment SSO seems to be nothing more than an added complication which provides me with no benefit

Cheers

JD
