[HELP REQD] iTunes on a Mac VM - on a Mac

I have a need to run iTunes on a Mac OS X VM within a Mac. There are too many iGadgets and too many family users here to do it all under one umbrella so to speak. I’m not one for separate user accounts but all can have their own Mac VM, as that’s smart.

iTunes on an MS OS (or MS VM) is getting flakier and the more time goes on the more the basic things just don’t work. Apple favours their gear and I understand that.

What is working:

2 x Apple IDs – One is for iPhones and the other is for iPads/ATVs as very separate animals re available/useable content and suits my requirements.

XP Pro VM and iTunes works fine apart from any iTunes Wi-Fi sync, that isn’t a VM problem, and also no HD content downloads are allowed so can’t sync any HD content to an iGadget that can handle HD. Well that’s what iTunes tells me in XP Pro VM.

Win7 Ultimate and iTunes works fine apart from any iTunes Wi-Fi sync, that isn’t a VM problem. I haven’t tried any iTunes HD downloads on that VM yet.

What isn’t working:

Mac OS X VM does most things in iTunes re transferring stuff from a newly added iGadget and all Apps and similar stuff gets transferred over-ish.

iTunes will detect any App updates and will download them.

Sync or Backup just doesn’t do what it is supposed to do as nothing gets transferred to iGadget.

A restore from Backup is very empty as the normal to me cycle of events re iTunes just doesn’t go through all the stages and I see no alerts or warnings re any failure. That was no surprise.

Q1 - Is this a failing of Fusion 5 (latest version) or something that Apple doesn’t allow in a Mac VM?

Q2 – Has anyone else tried similar and have iTunes working on a Mac OS X VM within Mac OS X.

Q3 – Can anyone else try and replicate this as I can on 2 separate Macs and am now banging my head on a wall?

Just for info:

Using Fusion 5.0 and the latest version available.

2 x iMac 27” (Late 2009) running Mountain Lion and all up to date.

Mac mini (Mid 2010) running Mountain Lion and all up to date.

Mac OS X VMs also running Mountain Lion and all up to date.

iTunes is latest version on all.

iGadgets are 2 x iPhone 3GS, 1 x iPhone 4, 3 x iPhone 4S, 2 x iPhone 5, 2 x Ipad1, 2 x iPad mini, 3 x ATV3.

No max limit of 5 exceeded re computer Authorisation on either Apple ID.

I need some of my iGadgets on various Mac VMs instead of MS shite but that isn’t possible at the moment so can anyone point me in a direction to make this explainable to me? Oh that’s Q4 I guess.

Thank you in advance

Tarky
