a definative answer to running a DHCP in a 'teamed' environment

I have searched high and low for some answers! i am at my wits end with this and i apologise in advance if this is a simplistic answer.

I have 2012 Active Directory ( DNS & DHCP only) configured on a 192.168.x.x range, serving some clients, it's very simple.

I have in the past been unable to disable the range by adding  the following

ethernet0.connectionType = "custom"
ethernet0.vnet="VMnet2"

To the associated .vmx file, this has been hit & miss, some times my clients work and get a DHCP address from my Domain controller, once i edited this file! Great, then it would ' stop working'.

Now, i have discovered this link : http://mergy.org/2011/09/host-only-networking-setup-with-vmware-fusion-4/

What i would like to do, is 'disable' the ( VMware Fusion 5 ) internal DHCP server 'altogether' i have zero need for it. i have looked into '$ sudo vi /Library/Preferences/VMware\ Fusion/networking' command, but only see options to edit and configure to another address range.

Is this possible?

A virtual Beer for anyone who can help.
