Re: "Vcenter alarm: ESXi 5.1 Host connection failure/ Host not responding"

Hey AG,

To be honest with you i am facing the same issue. I just noticed this started happening earlier today.

I moved the ESXi hosts onto 2 Arista 10G switches for the customer traffic/vmotion but used the onboard cards taht the dell servers came with for management. The management network is not connecting to the same Arista switches instead its connected to cisco access switches.

I am monitoring the vcenter events as im writing you this and have been noticing random disconnects of the esxi hosts. I notice that the VM machines become disconnected and im my monitoring service kicks off to alert the issue with connectivity.

I started a post on this as well and did not reach out to vmware support as of yet.

The switches are configured to use LACP mode active on both the VDS and the arista switches when the MLAG was created.

I wish i had a resolution for you on this but im struggleing on this as well. I dont think it is network issue to be honest as my management network is on the same switch as where it was before i moved the host onto the new switches. I should not be seeing the entire host drop off from the vcenter and gets flagged as (not responding). I will try and work this from my end as well and see what i come up with and will keep you posted.

Let me know if you get anywhere with this before you hear from me as im really scared that this may cause major issues for my production customers.

thanks.

SL
