VMMember1 for future reference. If you try to P2V another machine again that has an enormous disk that is mostly not being used, before moving the machine there are a few things you can do.
For example:
- Go to 'Administrative Tools'
- select 'Computer Management'
- select 'Disk Management'
- Right-Click the large volume and select 'Shrink Volume'
Shrink the volume to your desired size (I usually will resize my disks to 1.3x the size of diskspace used (obviously use common sense here, 1.3x is not an across the board number)
Once you've shrunk the volume you can run converter and move your newly resized volume with much more ease and it will utilize less of your datastore (assuming you are thick provisioning).
Hope this helps in the future.
