Windows 7 guest screen turns black after logging in. Fedora 18 host VMware workstation 9

I am running VMware Workstation version 9.0.1 build-894247 on Fedora 18.

Kernel / host os version 3.7.4-204.fc18.x86_64

When I boot my windows 7 virutal machine everything works until after I log in.

After that the screen goes black. If I shutdown the guest os I have seen the blue/green windows circlular cursor.

This VM has worked for years with nearly no issue. I've just had to recompile the kernel module for vmware when I upgrade the kernel.

I use Nvidia proprietary drivers.

I've tried turning off 3d acceleration but that did not help. It's not very acceptalbe either as I do use 3D software on the windows VM.

I did not have time to througly test this in the v9 trial so I bought the upgrade and am pretty bummed that this does not work properly.

Being able to use a windows virtual machine on linux with video and usb support is my primary reason for using VMware.

I am reluctant but willing to try another kernel or for example RHEL  to get this to work properly but do not know if it's rooted in my kernel / linux version and would really prefer to run Fedora as host because I'll end up having to run it in an extra virtual machine.

I will temporarily use it with 3D acelleration disabled. Is this a known problem?

Thanks for your help,

John
