Okay I just had to update my corporate network password, so I was logged off my Windows 7 VM, and then logged back on with the new AD password. Everything logged on normally. I went to suspend the VM and about two seconds into it, I get the beach ball that doesn't spin, then a kernel panic and my MacBook Pro reboots.
After reboot, I close all unnecessary apps, go into Fusion 5.0.2 again, boot my Windows 7 VM (which is now reporting Windows wasn't shut down properly do I want Safe Mode, etc. -- I say no, boot Windows normally).
I log into the VM (and the network), using the new password and everything is fine.
I hit the pause button to suspend the machine and I get the same frozen beach ball, kernel panic and my MBP reboots.
The kernel panic reports that VMware Fusion is the offending app. I otherwise can't interpret much of the log report. Nor do I know how to retrieve it if it stored somewhere on my machine.
Can anybody help? Should I uninstall and reinstall Fusion 5? I'm not sure the password change has any significance, but I'm sure there's something interesting in the log report that would indicate where to start...

Fusion 5.0.2
(also, when checking for Fusion updates via the fusion menu, I get a box that says VMware Fusion was unable to check for updates. A certificate error occurred for the update server. Check your internet settings blahblahblah -- internet is working fine though, since I am entering this post on the same machine!)
