Workstation 9: Problem with IDE HD's

Hi

I have a problem with IDE HD's on my Workstation 9

I have my old laptop (XP) stored as a vmware image. I have used Standard Alone Converter ver 5.0.1 build 875114 to create the image

HD is created as an IDE HD with two entries in the VMX configuration

     ide0:0.present = "TRUE"

     ide0:0.fileName = "somelaptop.vmdk"

If I check properties on the VMWare WrkSt GUI I get an error "On of the parameters supplied is invalid" and options/description are completely absent

Well ok then could be my fault, I then tried to create a new image with IDE drives which gives me the same errror as above

And yes I know use SCSI for better performance ;-)

Question: Can I convert til SCSI when I create the image from the old laptop? Or do I need to do this using the Converter?

I am not able to use the Converter on current image though as I get an error "Unable to obtain hardware information for this machine"

I am lso unable to install vmware tools

I can't recall whether I worked on WrkSt 6 (old version I was running before upgrading to latest WrkSt 9)

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance  /Peter
