Did you shut down or suspend the VM prior to updating VMware Workstation? Please check the NTFS permissions and delete any *.lck files or folders in the VM's directory. If this still doesn't help try to start VMware Workstation "As Administrator" to see whether this is a permission issue (e.g. UAC, ...)
