i did not pass through 5.0 upgrade,i go straght to 5.1,but the strange thing was that immediately after the upgrade to 5.1 i successfully created an ESXi Host profile,but as i wrote after i made some minor configuration modifications and the firmware update of my servers i'm stuck with this error,so now i cannot apply any host profile to my servers cluster neither i can update the Host Profile for future use.The bad think for me is that my VMware Support recently expired so i could not rely for help from their support team:(
However i didn't have any issues with upgrading the VShield appliance as described in the VMWare KB procedure,and now my VShield is working fine.I applied all available patches on my hosts ,and on my VCenter Server 5.0b but without any luck.
BTW because i'm in the middle of an servers upgrade process and i have some spare machines,i tried to upgrade them the some way as my cluster server and after the upgrade i did not have any troubles to create or apply the Host Profiles feature to all of them.The diffrence between them is that the servers in my cluster are DELL R610 the others R710,and the 610's are with the latest firmware versions,the 710's are not updated,and also the 610's are part of VM Cluster and the 710 are not!!
Right now i don't have enough time to investigate seriously this problem but if i have any succes or clues i'll post it.
