Greetings, all....
My employer had a script to collate inventory information from vCO (how many VMs of what type of OS, using how many CPUs, etc). Unfortunately, upgrades to vCO 5.x (5.1 in practive, but we skipped 5.0, which would have broken it). The creator of that previous script has left the company for greener pastures, so no one who is familiar with that code base is left, and it has fallen upon me to replace it. Knowing a bit of Python, I looked at vmw.vco, only to find that it has not been maintained since 2010, and even the most basic of methods fail. Client.echo() produces an error 'TypeError: Response is "text/plain", not "text/xml"' when using the basic example code, as do all other methods. It also generates warning about multifile being depricated, so I am not considering it a functional, long term possibility. So I am searching for something else to use in its place. Java and Perl are not good options for my programming style, psphere works through vSphere and my manager prefers that I go through the Orchestator, and I do not see anything in other languages I do know. The systems this script would run on are Linux systems, not Windows. Would anyone like to comment on my other options? Thanks in advance, and hope to hear from people soon.
