vCenter upgrade 4.1 U3 to 5.1

hi team,

running vSphere ESXi 4.1 U3 and would like to move to ESXI 5.1.

Existing db is MS SQL 2005.

The question / confusion arises during the SSO install. I would like to be running SQL Express 2008 (as bundled). How best to achieve this?

The SSO install options are: install a local MS SQL 2008 Express instance

OR

Use an existing supported database.

VMware doc - Supported Database Upgrades - lists SQL 2005 as supported by ESX 5.1.
