Steps to Degrate VM Hardware version 8 to 7 and ship it to remote location...
created test environment for esxi 5 , so that first we will create ver 8 vm then degrade the version to 7.
1) Created a new vm and install esxi5
2) configured ip on esxi5 vm
3) install converter 5 standlone on test drvcenterserver.
4) install one testvm (windows and linux) on test esxi5 host with version 8
5) poweredoff testvm and start v2v conversion on same esx host with the help of vmware converter 5 and degrade the vm version 8 to 7.
6) disconnected new converted vm from network and powered on to check weather it's booting or not, if it's working very much fine then powered off converted vm.
6) connect external usb hdd on a desktop pc from where we can direclty connect ESX host with the help of vsphere client, Once connect to the ESX Host then select the new converted vm and browse to the datastore and start downloading the converted vm folder on an external usb hdd.
7) Ship that external usb hdd to remote site.
8) On one of the depsktop PC connect usb external hdd, from there we need to connect destination esx host with the help of vsphere client and where we need to upload this vm folder.
9) start uploading vm folder from vsphere client (Note: avoid copy /paste funda for eg copy vm from usb hdd to desktop pc then upload the same to esx host, don't do this)
10)register vm and poweredon the same
