Each time I add an IP address to C:\ProgramData\VMware\vmnetdhcp.conf file I have had to reboot my entire system to get VMware Workstation to reread the file.
I tried making minor changes via Virtual Network Editor with disasterous results. For example, if use editor to tweek DHCP lease times slightly I do not get the desired reread of vmnetdhcp.conf, instead the file is overwitten with standard vmware entries and all my custom changes are lost.
Adding a user defined section would have been nice in versions 6, 7, 8 and 9 :-)
I have tried to start/stop VMware DHCP service via Windows Task Manager but it hangs, and I just have to reboot anyway. Maybe there is some specific service restart order?
Has anyone got an elegant solution to this? I would like to assign IP, then run a quick Linux "dhclient -r" to get my desired IP!
